Recent Incidents:
Fatal Stabbing at Birthday Party: On January 26, 2025, Albuquerque police arrested Ernesto Martinez, 41, for the unprovoked stabbing death of a man during a family birthday gathering. Martinez admitted to the act and is currently in custody.
Officer-Involved Shooting: On January 24, 2025, an Albuquerque Police Department (APD) officer was shot during a gunfire exchange at a Northeast Heights apartment. The officer is in stable condition, while the suspect was killed. A bystander was also injured and hospitalized.
Homicide Investigation: APD is investigating a homicide on Kraft Court SW. Officers responded to a disturbance call and found one person dead inside the residence. A suspect has been arrested and is in custody.
Law Enforcement Updates:
Metro 15 List Update: On January 2, 2025, APD added 39-year-old Adan Saucedo-Avila to the Metro 15 List, which targets the city's most wanted offenders.
Fugitive Apprehension: APD, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshal Service, arrested Kalani Hodges, a fugitive wanted since 2022.
